Position: As Director of Donor Relations at Cancer Care Services, you will play a crucial role in building and nurturing relationships with our donor community. Your primary focus will be to cultivate and engage donors on a personal level, aligning their interests and talents with our funding opportunities to enhance our mission: Supporting cancer patients, caring for caregivers, and empowering survivors to reduce the impact of cancer in Tarrant County.
Cultivate and Engage Donors: You will cultivate and engage donors on a personal level so that we can fully understand where their interests, concerns, and talents mesh with the funding opportunities of Cancer Care Services. You will continually focus on how to connect donors with new opportunities that may fit their interests. You will secure major gifts from new donors, as well as increase gifts from current donors.
Learn & Implement a Proven Fundraising Model: At Cancer Care Services, we have adopted the Benevon fundraising model (www.benevon.com) as our platform for engaging our community and meeting our financial goals with individuals in the community. You will dedicate time to understanding the Benevon process and improving your ability to implement it. Prior experience with the Benevon fundraising model is preferred.
Raise Resources: After cultivating and engaging donors with the Benevon fundraising model, you will raise resources, including planned gifts, through financial asks and connecting donors with opportunities to volunteer and contribute to the Cancer Care Services mission to support cancer patients, care for caregivers, and empower survivors to reduce the impact of cancer in Tarrant County.
Responsibilities Include:
· Ensure active pipeline of major donors by working closely with the VP of Philanthropy and the CEO, plus the Development Team, to identify prospects from daily/weekly gift reports; using criteria to mine the database to uncover prospects; and using other strategies and database resources to identify new potential major donors.
· Work with the VP of Philanthropy, CEO, and Development Team to enlist the participation of board members and other volunteer leadership in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major donor prospects.
· Develop short and long-term strategies for prospects, including annual giving goals, multi-year pledge goals, and goals for special initiatives/campaigns.
· With the VP of Philanthropy, develop revenue goals for major giving, tracking progress closely to ensure that targets are met, and strategies re-examined when necessary to ensure achievement of goals.
· Manage stewardship of Cancer Care Services' major donor portfolio, ensuring that donors experience high-quality interactions that foster long-term engagement and investment. Help develop methods to convey the impact of their gifts, and ensure that donors are kept up to date on key developments in Cancer Care Services’ fast-changing campaigns and priorities. Set and meet goals for several touch points weekly, monthly, and annually.
· Help plan and implement strategic donor cultivation events and support Cancer Care Services’ fundraising luncheon each fall. Enlist the support of high-level donors and volunteers to host #CancerCareAWARE tours and provide new prospect names.
· Conduct prospect research to confirm major donor capacity.
· Maintain timely and accurate donor records in Bloomerang database.
· Work includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
· Represent the agency as a passionate advocate of our mission within the community.
Qualifications:
· Passion for the mission of Cancer Care Services.
· Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and goal-driven.
· Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 year’s experience in donor cultivation and securing financial support OR a combination of relevant education and experience.
· Willingness to learn and follow the proven Benevon fundraising model. Previous experience with Benevon is a plus.
· Knowledge of planned giving tools (bequests, Donor Advised Funds, IRAs, stocks, trusts, etc.) is a plus.
· Project management experience is a plus.
· Experience with Bloomerang database is a plus.
· Experience with Donor Search is a plus.
· Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
Work Hours and Location:
This is a 32-hour per week position, with flexible hours. However, occasional evenings and weekend hours will occur.
